I just started working with Algocharge and didn't realize the need for effective payment service providers for Forex trading company. Too bad you don't include what payment methods these various companies accept.

Hi Laz,

your VPS provider will always have access to your data, since it's stored on his VPS server.
Yes, its possible for a VPS provider to get a copy of your EA.

Hello all,

I would much appreciate if someone who is familiar with VPS can answer the following question:

IS there any risk the code of an EA to be copied/stolen or whatever by the host of the VPS service?

Thank you in advance.

Laz

That would be interesting. However, we'll need a link from the broker sites: FX Solutions and Back Bay FX in order to introduce their VPS. Thank you!

October 12, 2011

Back Bay FX is an introducing broker and sets up accounts with many different brokers. They also sponsor the VPS subscription with Commercial Network Services. The coupon code to use at CNS is BBFX. the backbay site iswww.bbfx.com

IBFX and IBFX Australia also started to sponsor VPS's with Commercial Network Services. If you maintain a $5,000 balance, they will pay $35/month towards the VPS hosting fee. Coupon codes to use at CNS are IBFX and IBFXAU

EA is an Expert Advisor - a piece of code which is run on MT4 platform (or any other platform) to automate your trading (e.g. open/close positions automatically according to the trading rules specified in that code).

VPS is a Virtual Private Server - a remote hosting solution for your MT4 platform, which allows you to run your EA on the platform from the remote server, instead of your home PC. This way your EA is able to work 24/7.

If your EA is good, it can bring you profits.

trader

hye BG
is that ea vps can bring profit to traders??

BrokerGuru

May 10, 2011

Thank you for your feedback.
So far there are only a few (10+) brokers that offer VPS hosting.
So, at this stage it would be easy to check them using our Broker Search: Forex brokers comparison

where you can select the parameter: "US clients accepted" - Yes.

trader

May 10, 2011

I live in the US, but want to use a foreign vps broker, but many foreign brokers don't accept US clients. It would be nice if you had a column that says yes or no if they accept US clients.

Hi BG

My experience with VPS service is that they'll reboot after sometimes and without any notice and they always say "maintenance" all the applications will just close, even they reboot on weekends if you have open positions by the EA then really a problems.

You can modify the register to make it auto log on after reboot and auto start up mt4 again but there's risk of losing control of previous open positions by the EA.

Using VPS it not really worry free and you have to always monitor to make sure mt4 is running. I think this is the big disadvantages of VPS.

Running 24 hours at home mainly only worry the power supply and internet disconnect issue, if you are in a country that have a reliable power and internet service should be not a problems.

BrokerGuru

April 13, 2011

Thank you. We'll list the company.

There are some free VPS offers for UK & US Hosted VPSs here:
http://www.myforexvps.co.uk/free-vps-for-fx-traders

3 Months free and then 25% discount for life, when you signup with one of the recommended brokers via the website. There will be more brokers added soon apparently.

I am using a Forex VPS for 6 months now from http://forex-ea-vps.com.I am pleased with their services. They are one of the few companies really experienced in Forex.

trader

March 3, 2011

Forex.com offer free VPS hosting. I tried their service last year [2010], but at that time it would only host very simple EAs that did not have a .dll file requirement. They mentioned that the .dll file capability may be coming in the future, so perhaps an inquiry to them may be worthwhile. I did notice, however, that the execution times on their VPS were very slow.

BrokerGuru

The absolute guaranteed minimum is 768 Mb RAM, bandwidth - any minimum would work.
If you have good Linux skills, then the minimum guaranteed RAM would be 512 Mb.

trader

January 8, 2011

How much bandwidth and memory would be advisable for each MT4 installation? Most VPS providers price based on these two factors.
Thanks!

trader

January 8, 2011

Since Big Brother has deemed it necessary to protect us from ourselves (and to make sure no one outside the country is allowed to compete with us), it would be very helpful if you could include a column that shows whether or not the broker can/will accept US residents. Many of the listed brokers cannot.
Thank you for a great site!

trader

December 27, 2010

A separate company is probably better, because when you host with a broker they can access your EA if they need to.

trader

December 27, 2010

is it advisable to host ones EAs on the same broker who u trade with or a separate vps company.

BrokerGuru

November 17, 2010

Thank you, I appreciate it.
For now though, we list only those commercial VPS provides who offer some kind of support to traders, or at least mention VPS services for MT4 platform anywhere on their pages.

P.S. I do realise that MT4 can be set on majority of commercial VPS; it's that we don't aim to make a list all VPS providers, that's why we focus on those who specifically welcomes MT4 users.

Hi, i find this :
www.vpsland.com

BrokerGuru

October 15, 2010

It is listed as IamForex in the table: "VPS hosting from Forex brokers". I suppose it'd be correct change to "IamFX".

Forex-ID10T

BrokerGuru

Any reason why is IamFX is not listed?

From their site: "IamFX traders receive *FREE VPS hosting (regular price of $65/month value) for MetaTrader and Expert Advisors."

https://www.iamfx.com/vpshosting.php

Take care
