I use MT4 with OandA to successfully trade a few robots. With the rise in quantities and the increasing complexity and overhead of code, I decided to explore alternatives. I never have anything good to say about anything - just as long as it works.

* The trading application - (Trader Workstation) can be very complex - a double edged sword depending on your needs
* The app often presents with options that are ambiguous
* The app logs you out once every day - not an option for automated trading
* The app is so unstable that a third-party app has been written to manage it effectively (TWSStart) OUCH!
* IBs servers are restarted daily, leaving your trading strategy disconnected
* You can only be logged in once - no checking the status of your orders remotely!
* IB will generate you your username - one I never remember
* Customer service is 9-5 EST weekdays
* Historical data for backtesting is difficult to download and must be fetched in many batches
* forex orders must be in half pips when everyone else has moved to tenth pip
