MT4 brokers | MetaTrader 4 Forex brokers

MT4 Forex brokers is the largest group of Forex brokers.
Due to popularity of MT4 platform, almost every broker (about 95% of them) offers MT4.

It could be a bit overwhelming to find a broker based only on MT4 criteria. Thus, adding such parameters as minimum deposit, broker type (ECN, STP or Market maker), as well as regulatory status can help narrow down the search.

IFC Ltd is not registered with NFA, I haven't found them in the CFTC register, also haven't found them in the FSA UK register.
Unfortunately, I can't tell by looking at the symbols on this regulation page: (http://ifctrading.com/regulations.php) what the other regulatory bodies the broker refers to... I'll contact them to learn about this.

Also, note that when you click to open a Live account, you're given a "Trader Account Letter and Trader Agreement", which, if you scroll it a bit is cut half way down... IFC webmasters should be more attentive, but so should be the traders who rush to check the box "I have read and agree..."

Market makers trade against their clients because they [brokers] make the artificial market for clients: e.g. if a client wants to Sell, they'll buy from him, if a clients wants to Buy, they'll sell to him. A broker creates an artificial demand, so that clients can have their orders filled.

An honest market maker will automatically counter trade clients' orders, but will not manipulate the market to own advantage, or rather to say, force it against a client. At the same time, market makers are able and will protect themselves from certain market spikes during volatile periods by rising spreads etc. This is a normal practice, so that clients can't get advantage of the volatile trading and quotes. Other than that, a broker should not create any additional conditions.

However, a conflict of interests in between a broker and a client creates a tricky situation in which a market maker who wants to play unfairly has means to take the matter in his hands and force some unfair conditions.
That's why many traders fear to open an account with a market maker.

(However, should such manipulative practices take place, they quickly become available to the online traders' world, and such brokers very soon suffer from a loss of trust and a weakening flow of new clients.)

trader

May 20, 2010

I dont understand why most Market Maker will do trade against their customer. I am sure they will be no longer participated in the market because they was unable to maintain their customer trust. They will hunt your STOP LIMIT and drive it to your Stop Loss for sure even you are following the trend correctly. THEY VIOLATE THE MARKET. They must play dirty against you so that you will be out from the market as soon as possible and ALSO they will be out from the market too. Most of the MM has the ability to trade highest volume so that they can spike, slippage their clients order.

Hi Ibrus,

thank you for a good question.
It depends on a broker, but here are the main pros and cons to consider:

When opening an account with an introducing broker (IB):

PROS: you may get the same conditions as with the prime broker.
CONS: but, you also may not, and the most unpleasant of all would be when spreads with the IB are higher than with the prime broker. This is explained by the fact that an IB earns a commission from his prime broker in the form of the pip difference quoted to traders.

PROS: deposit requirements to open an account with an IB could be lower, also it is possible to get a higher leverage.
CONS: deposit requirements could be higher than with the prime broker, depends on an IB.

PROS: as a rule, with an introducing broker you are going to get the best customer support, almost like VIP support, which is not always achievable with the largest prime brokers, who have thousands of clients and can't dedicated an extra time to each client.
CONS: none. If an IB can't provide an exceptional support, there is often no other significant benefits to choose an IB instead of their prime broker.
