February 25, 2009Excellent site finally, clear and not confusing the reader, as the most of others out there.
I am new in forex.
I understand how important it is for me to chose now an honest Broker to work with, and I've been spending a lot of time in research.
Result ??? I am stuck to a point of total confusion. Too much B.S. offers in that jungle, but I have the impression that I found the right site now with good information. Thank you...
I'm looking for a broker (NDD+STP+ and (maybe)ECN
(I'm not quite clear yet on how important this could be for me, being a new) maybe you could help me understand this.
Beside this, I would like to be able to trade on the same platform (possibly Metatrader 4) : Forex, Gold, and Crude Oil.
I can't found such a Broker... Is it too much asking ??? Am I a complete foolish, dreamer ???
Or is it that I'm just missing a part of the meaning of this mosaic...
Do you know any of them that does all this ?
My first choice is Dukaskopy, by they don't do metals and oil, and the minimum deposit it's a bit too much for me to risk now.
Second is FXCBS with a professional account, I will ask them about gold and oil.
But I have a question for you here.
This is the only Broker in your description as : STP and (ECN style).....
What does this definition of (ECN style) means exactly ?
They work like an ECN without being an real ECN ? I don't understand it...
Thank you for your help

February 27, 2009Thank you for your feedback and questions.
Let's start with Metatrader 4 platfrom first. The platform is not capable technically to support full scale ECN trading: it cannot show the depth of the market and can't support interaction in between traders.
More details about ECN trading here:
ECN/STP Forex brokers
MT4 ECN Forex brokers
"ECN style" is a term used by Forex brokers to show that they have done additional work to customize/bridge MT4 platform in order to enhance trading environment and make level 2 ECN trading possible on an well familiar for traders MT4 platform. A broker connects MT4 to ECN via bridge using own API. Whatever it is, you will not see market depth and liquidity on any MT4 platform, unless it uses MT4-to-ECN bridge, you won't see other traders' orders, and you won't be able to hit those orders, unless it is MT4 ECN. I hope this helps a bit.
I think you should be able to find a broker who offers Forex, Gold and Crude Oil trading, although I can't name any right away.
I'd suggest you visit http://www.100forexbrokers.com/gold-silver-trading-brokers
All those brokers offer Forex + Metals. From that list begin looking for brokers that offer Crude Oil (...thank you for the tips, by the way. I'll use those criteria to develop webpages further). Will any of them also have MT4 platform, I can't be sure.
And finally, few more words about first live trading accounts in Forex. Whether you are totally new to trading or have an experience with Shares, Commodities, Indices or Treasuries, it is highly recommended that you start with a small investment in Forex. Dukascopy is a good broker, but its minimum account requirements are affordable only to professional traders.
Having said that let me also mention why it is not so important for beginners with small Forex accounts to lock on finding necessarily an ECN broker. First steps in Forex are all about trying to trade, to understand the process, to manage the account, to preserve original investment and as a small reward - earn some money on top. Market makers can be good for the start. An STP is often better. Still, it is better to have a good solid trusted market maker than a bad STP broker.
Confusion is what we all face when we read reviews on Forex brokers. "Good, bad, scam, not scam" - there are as many opinions as there are traders on Earth. Try to read some reviews, but don't base your choice solely on what you've heard. Choose brokers by the clarity of the trading conditions, by open and easy access to support and any other Sales, Tech etc departments, by the regulatory bodies they are registered with, by the speed and execution of their demo trading platform (although it may differ when you go live). Whichever broker you choose, try it out first by opening a small account. Later when you are confident and satisfied with everything you saw, add funds and trade happily.

March 2, 2009why FXCH is a UK broker? Isn't it a Swiss broker? Its spread is very impressive, but many people say it is a scam:(
BrokerGuru
March 2, 2009There is no info on the website where FXCH says that they are swiss. The first contact address is in UK.
We haven't traded with FXCH to comment on the scam factor, however, when many people warn traders about any company, it is worth to at least bear in mind the info and be cautious.

March 9, 2009Apart from MBTrading, who seem to be in the process of offering a ECN-style MT4 platform, FXCM has now reduced their minimum required account size from 5000 to 2000 USD. Some other specialists on MT4 have pointed me to Avail Trading, they are originally a small but very effective futures company ( US ), now they seem to offer a true ECN style MT4 platform, which is seemingly connected to hotspotfx, a major liquidity provider in FX.
I agree that Dukascopy is too much for the avergae trader, but we will see more and more brokers offering better quality.
Some great posts here & nice people... ! The list of systems is very valuable, not many visitors to this site will appreciate the fact that there are " hidden diamonds " here, which would easily be marketed by the Internet marketing guys for several thousand $$$.
My sincere thank you and please continue.....!

March 13, 2009IBFX is market maker, his spread is widen like crazy, slow execution on SL
BrokerGuru
March 16, 2009There is no reason not to believe you.
If you trade live, you have facts.
I can only post the answers I got from IBFX today:
My questions: Do you have a dealing desk? Are you a market maker?
IBFX: No, we do not have a dealing desk. No, we are not a market maker. We have 7 liquidity providers(banks). They can take the other side of your trade. They will send bids and offers. The best price is what you will be quoted minus a small amount of the spread.
Please leave us a short broker review at: http://www.100forexbrokers.com/reviews-ratings

March 28, 2009"The company is entitled, by its own discretion, to act as a mediator and cover the clients positions by other clients and/or financial corporate, and also act as a market maker, and to constitute as an opposite side to the client's trade." (http://www.4xp.com/terms.php)

March 31, 2009Thank you for all I.
Secondly, I have one query
Why when it begins operations, "a successful transaction," the broker server suddenly start to hanging and the lack of access to the closed end and then begin manipulating candles? So are all the brokers?
zak
BrokerGuru
March 31, 2009Hi Zak,
The reason behind such hanging and/or re-quoting is often explained by insufficient liquidity on the broker's side, when a broker cannot provide the requested earlier price due to lack of buying/selling contracts on the market that are supposed to cover your request.
The other possible reason is that a broker you trade with is a market maker, who sees whether your new trade is going to be an obvious loser or a winner. If the market is moving fast an in case you're entering an obvious large winner, no broker would want to take the opposite side of your trade and deliberately lose money, unless they have enough liquidity and can cover your trade with other clients' trades (where clients will lose).
This type of "freeze and re-quote" situation is very common during news hours.
If a broker's server hangs too often with no apparent reason, it could also be an overloading of the system on the broker's side. But, no matter what issues are there with the server, trading on such unreliable platform is not a pleasant experience...
I'd change a broker without hesitation.
