May 20, 2010I dont understand why most Market Maker will do trade against their customer. I am sure they will be no longer participated in the market because they was unable to maintain their customer trust. They will hunt your STOP LIMIT and drive it to your Stop Loss for sure even you are following the trend correctly. THEY VIOLATE THE MARKET. They must play dirty against you so that you will be out from the market as soon as possible and ALSO they will be out from the market too. Most of the MM has the ability to trade highest volume so that they can spike, slippage their clients order.

May 26, 2010Market makers trade against their clients because they [brokers] make the artificial market for clients: e.g. if a client wants to Sell, they'll buy from him, if a clients wants to Buy, they'll sell to him. A broker creates an artificial demand, so that clients can have their orders filled.
An honest market maker will automatically counter trade clients' orders, but will not manipulate the market to own advantage, or rather to say, force it against a client. At the same time, market makers are able and will protect themselves from certain market spikes during volatile periods by rising spreads etc. This is a normal practice, so that clients can't get advantage of the volatile trading and quotes. Other than that, a broker should not create any additional conditions.
However, a conflict of interests in between a broker and a client creates a tricky situation in which a market maker who wants to play unfairly has means to take the matter in his hands and force some unfair conditions.
That's why many traders fear to open an account with a market maker.
(However, should such manipulative practices take place, they quickly become available to the online traders' world, and such brokers very soon suffer from a loss of trust and a weakening flow of new clients.)
