Below is the list of brokers who offer MT4 ECN trading.
Those Forex brokers may also offer other regular non-ECN accounts, please pay attention when choosing the right MT4 ECN account.
Oh, I thought you were talking about IB as an introducing broker, while you actually referred to IB - Interactive brokers company (their abbreviation confused me a couple of times already over the course).
Interactive Brokers are real ECN, however, as you said, they don't offer MT4 platform.
Consider the brokers we have listed in our MT4 ECN category.
They all have different conditions, but I haven't heard of any similar problems with the downtime for NZDUSD.
You can quickly compare them by using our Broker Comparison Tool
(Soon we'll be able to compare commission rates as well.)
P.S. I can't recommend brokers (it is against the website policy to give advantage and promote any of the brokers), but we can discuss facts and collect further data about various brokers

Hi BrokerGuru,
I am looking for an ECN broker however I am a bit confused with all the jargon.
It is essential i use Meta Trader as I run an EA however I'm not quite sure what this currenex connection thing is?
Also I see you ahve FXDD listed however I asked them and the said MetaTrader is only available for non ECN accounts?
Thanks

MT4 platform allows either dealing desk based trading or at most STP.
While the trend nowadays is to use ECN technology, MT4 is not capable of supporting it.
There is another trading platform, which supports ECN - it's called Currenex.
Now, since many traders like MT4, brokers were looking for the ways to somehow give MT4 the ability to support ECN trading. The solution was found by connecting MT4 to Currenex platform via a bridge. That's how we've got MT4 ECN.
FXDD doesn't have MT4 ECN, only regular MT4, that's right.

I like to use MT4 as my primary trading platform. It is now become popular among ECN brokers as well. But there was a difference between MT4 and other platforms such Java platform, Navigator, etc. Like DOM display! I can see largest volume traded which is the best opportunity to follow the market, bid/ask strength. What I like the most on non MT4 platform like Navigator is that your open orders will be deleted automatically in about 5 seconds. So that your open orders will not be shown to other traders and be manipulated by others (From my understanding). Am i right broker guru! Please do correction if i am wrong. So, my question here is. How about MT4? Will my open orders be deleted before it pass through ECN bridge platform (Currenex)?

That's a great question, yet I don't know the answer. I can't confirm the exact methodology of order processing/deletion in the MT4<->Currenex bridge, not to mention there are several such bridges, including custom made ones that are being used by Forex brokers.

Hi BrokerGuru,
What broker would you recommend for a beginner wanting to trade medium-term on EUR/USD? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Broker-wise I would recommend finding a regulated broker with a low initial deposit (up to $250-$500) and 0.01 lot size. Mid-term EURUSD could be successfully traded with a market maker and an ECN or STP broker alike.

CMS recently added a link on their website to re-download MT4 because they have moved servers and no offer no dealing desk on their MT4. I have noticed an instant improvement in the execution since the recent change. CMS now has ECN MT4!

I haven't found any information about CMS UK's Metatrader4 platform being an ECN or at least STP.
I would appreciate any additional reference. Thank you.
